2023 Spring Semester 

How to Register:

  • Read the website thoroughly.

  • Pay special attention to the expectations, dress code, and calendar.

  • Thoroughly read the class descriptions.  

 

  • A registration link will be sent via the BU News and the BU Electives email list on or before November 27th.  Registration will open on November 27th  and close on December 2nd.  Late registrations will be placed on a waitlist or in classes that have openings available.

  • Register at Electives Registration

  • Please submit payment via mail.  Place payment ($165 check made out to “BUAC Electives” with student’s name on the memo line) in an envelope and mail to the following address:

  • Payment must be postmarked by December 2nd.  We will be unable to hold your spot in the program without payment, and your student will not be placed in his/her choice of classes until we have received payment.

 

  • You will be notified of your class schedule via email.

General Information

  • Registration is $165 for the Spring 2023 Semester. ​This fee includes registration for up to  classes. Additional materials fees are listed in course descriptions and are payable to individual instructors on the first day of classes.

  • Students may choose up to three courses per semester from the Electives schedule. Students are encouraged, but not required, to take three courses per semester. 

  • Courses are offered from 1-4 p.m. on Thursday. 

  • There are no study halls offered at Electives, but students are typically invited to eat lunch and fellowship with other Electives students from 12-1 p.m. each Thursday. Students may not be on campus while classes are in session unless they are registered for a class during that time. 

  • BU Electives  first hour classes begin at 1:00. The remaining classes begin at 2:00 and 3:00.

  • Although each teacher sets his/her own objectives for the class, the expectation for out-of-class work is not significant.

  • Elective classes meet for two 16-week semesters.

  • High school credit may be assigned to each course taken, but the amount of credit earned for each class is up to the discretion of the parent. 

  • Grades are not given for electives courses. 

  • The BU Performing Arts Company has its own leadership, but is associated with The Electives Program and follows the rules and expectations of BU Electives.
